- 100m–200m from breaking surf, or within 100m of calm marine areas: COLORBOND® Ultra steel (or an equivalent upgraded coating) is required — standard COLORBOND® isn't rated for this level of salt exposure.
- Closer again, or the most exposed beachfront positions: stainless steel or aluminium roofing becomes worth considering.

Can I convert my tile roof to metal roofing?
Yes, tile-to-metal conversion is one of the residential jobs we're asked to do most across the Central Coast. Concrete tile weighs around 40 to 50 kilograms per square metre against roughly 4 to 7 kilograms for COLORBOND®, and that weight reduction can free up structural capacity for solar panels without needing reinforcement. We assess your existing roof structure as part of the free consultation to confirm what a conversion would involve for your property.
Do I need extra insulation with a metal roof?
Metal roofing benefits from insulation more than most people expect, and we integrate it beneath the sheeting on every residential install as standard. Insulation cuts thermal transfer through the roof and dampens rain and hail noise, which matters given how often Central Coast properties see both. For commercial buildings we also offer insulated panel systems that combine the metal skin and insulation in one unit, suited to warehouses and factories.
What warranty do you offer on metal roofing installations?
Every installation we complete carries a 10 year workmanship guarantee from us on top of the manufacturer's warranty on materials, which runs to 30 years for COLORBOND®. That means two separate layers of cover: the manufacturer stands behind the product itself, and we stand behind our own installation work. Guttering installations carry a 7 year workmanship guarantee. All warranty terms are documented and handed over at final inspection, not left verbal.
How do I maintain a metal roof on the Central Coast?
Coastal metal roofs need more regular attention than an inland roof because of salt exposure. We recommend washing the roof surface at least annually, more often within a kilometre of the surf, to clear salt deposits before they start affecting the coating. Fastener seals should be inspected and replaced at the 15 to 20 year mark, and gutters and downpipes checked every six months for blockage or early corrosion.
