Can you install Colorbond over an existing roof without removing it?
A proper Colorbond roof restoration on the Central Coast means removing the old tiles or sheeting first, because installing over the top traps moisture, hides existing damage and can void the BlueScope warranty. The only exception is a straightforward metal-over-metal job where the existing structure is sound, which we confirm during your initial inspection before quoting either way.
What colour Colorbond is best for a Central Coast home?
It depends on your street's design rules and how exposed your roof is to the sun. Lighter shades like Surfmist and Windspray reflect more heat and suit most Central Coast homes, cutting cooling costs in summer, while darker colours look striking but fade faster under coastal UV. Do I need to replace my gutters when I restore my roof?
Not always, but we check them as part of every Colorbond roof restoration. Gutters that are rusted, sagging or undersized for the new roofline should be replaced at the same time, since re-using damaged gutters under a brand new roof just shifts the problem. We coordinate gutter replacement alongside the roofing work so it's one job, one quote, one visit.
What happens if storm damage is found during the roof restoration?
If we uncover storm damage, rot or corrosion once the old roofing comes off, we stop and talk you through it before doing anything further. Because we inspect the full frame before quoting, this is rare, but where it happens we quote the extra work separately so you're never charged without agreement. Any urgent exposure is weatherproofed immediately to protect your home.
How do I know if I need a full roof restoration or just repairs?
If your roof is under 15 years old with a single leak or a few damaged sheets, a repair is usually enough. Once a roof passes 15 to 20 years and shows corrosion, multiple leaks or cracked tiles, a full Colorbond roof restoration is typically more cost-effective than ongoing patch repairs. Our assessment gives you a straight answer either way, not an upsell.
